The Juniper Scalp Therapy Shampoos formulation is 96% natural, made with six therapeutic oils. In previous blogs, we have described their individual characteristics, from antimicrobial to anti-inflammatory:

Juniper Oil
Corn Mint Oil
Thyme Oil
Tea Tree Oil
Rosemary Oil
Eucalyptus Oil

Singularly, Juniper Oil is the most important ingredient in terms of its ability to soothe scalp problems. Not only is it an effective anti-inflammatory, but its anti-mitotic function slows down the skin’s turnover rate, as described in detail here, which is essential in treating the likes of seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, and severe dandruff.

The six oils of the Juniper Scalp Therapy Shampoo and their Entourage Effect

Although each of the other oils offers some fantastic healing and cleansing properties, they would not be effective enough to use as the sole active ingredient in a scalp therapy shampoo. When combined, however, a wonderful entourage effect is created.

Together, these ingredients soothe and balance the scalp, helping to control the Malassezia globosa fungus associated with dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis. They also stimulate blood flow and the hair follicles within the scalp that help trigger hair growth. One 1998 study shows the effective combination of Thyme & Rosemary Oil in treating the hair loss condition alopecia areata – https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/9828867/.

The high concentration of antimicrobial and antiseptic oils also act as a natural preservative that means we do not need to include a chemical preservative in the shampoo, helping to keep our shampoo as sustainable as possible.

The Juniper Scalp Therapy Shampoo is available to buy here in our original 250ml bottle, as well our new travel-friendly 100ml version.
